The Doctorate in Life Sciences is a research structure for the training of PhDs in Life Sciences at the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia coordinated by the Víctor Alzamora Castro Graduate School and in which the community of researchers from our University participate. as well as researchers with a record of excellence in research from other national and international institutions.
The Doctorate in Life Sciences develops an academic research program that is established for the training of researchers who are capable of generating and conducting original scientific research that expands the body of human knowledge. An organized way of offering the training of researchers is the one developed in the Doctoral Schools, where a group of researchers affiliated with academic institutions are in charge of training students through research activities in areas of life sciences.
The PhD program in Life Sciences is based on the concept of training researchers by doing research. The program is developed in the laboratories and field stations of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. In an individualized training system based on the close relationship between the professor and student developing scientific research, but which allows the doctoral student to develop their independent and original research capacity. Therefore, the course requirement is minimal; however, the student can take up to three courses during the first year of the program that allows them to acquire the ability to critically interpret scientific literature.
The program is interdisciplinary in nature and researchers participate with their respective research groups that are affiliated with various faculties, centers and institutes of the UPCH; Likewise, researchers from other universities in the country and abroad can be incorporated.
The purpose of this Doctorate in Life Sciences is to ensure structured and high-quality doctoral training of an interdisciplinary nature, in a highly collaborative environment between the research programs of the UPCH.
The Doctorate in Life Sciences is part of the Franco-Peruvian Doctoral School in Life Sciences.
