More than 400 music majors benefit from world-class teaching and the broad academic offerings of a major university. Students have abundant opportunities to participate in prestigious ensembles – from orchestras to choirs to the Wildcat Marching Band – that perform throughout the U.S. and the world. Integral to a top School of Music is a great faculty. The UK School of Music is comprised of 48 full-time faculty in residence that include internationally acclaimed performers, scholars, and teachers who have dedicated their lives to nurturing young talent, guiding students to attain success in a wide range of careers. Students benefit from special care offered by the faculty as well as the guest artists and conductors, clinicians, and lecturers who visit our campus. With a low faculty-to-student ratio, the School of Music provides personal attention with small classes and excellent private applied instruction. Students will gain experience in performing in outstanding ensembles, including the University Chorale, University Choristers, Men's Chorus, Women's Choir, Symphony Orchestra, UK Philharmonia, Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, Concert Band, Wildcat Marching Band, and three Jazz Ensembles among other smaller ensembles.
