Architecture MSci is a design-led course offering an inspiring educational experience, combining four years of core study with a fifth year of professional placement in architectural practice. The course prepares you to become a confident, critically engaged designer, developing an innovative understanding of how buildings perform and how imaginative spatial thinking can respond meaningfully to contemporary social, cultural and environmental challenges.
From day one, you learn within an immersive studio-based learning environment, guided by leading professors and inspiring tutors, where artistic speculation meets technological invention. Through drawing, making and experimentation with materials, hands-on tools and digital media, you develop your own design voice while building the technical knowledge that turns poetic and occasionally unconventional ideas into architecture. Research runs throughout the course, as you explore real places through field trips, ask bold questions of history and emerging future design, and ground imagination in critical thinking. In your fifth year, you step into professional practice, discovering how creativity becomes architecture through collaboration, construction and craft.
If you successfully complete the first three years of the Architecture MSci but choose not to continue, you will be eligible for the interim qualification of Architecture and Practice BSc.
