Our towns and cities are constantly evolving. From the development of new homes to ensuring communities have access to essential services, urban planning and real estate markets make the built environment and shape our experiences of where we live. As an Urban Planning and Real Estate BSc student at UCL Bartlett School of Planning, you will gain an understanding of how our towns and cities are made. You will learn about the social, economic, and environmental factors that form the urban environments we live in, and acquire specialist knowledge in real estate investment, development, and appraisal.
During your degree you will:
- Learn essential theories, methodologies, skills, and techniques used widely in urban planning, design, and real estate professions.
- Gain hands-on experience understanding, managing, and delivering urban change through fieldwork, site visits, and project work, engaging in live examples of urban planning and real estate challenges.
- Receive training in tools used industry-wide, for example QGIS, visual communication, urban design, and valuation tools.
- Have the opportunity of a two-week voluntary work experience, drawing from a pool of London-based planning and real estate employers.
- Explore possibilities for your future career with workshops from our school’s Career’s Co-ordinator and UCL Careers.
- Have the option to study abroad for a term in Year 2, subject to academic performance in Year 1, taking advantage of our long-established links with many universities in Europe as well as a growing list in the USA, Australia, and the Asia-Pacific.
- Gain a degree accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute. This degree is also currently undergoing its regular reaccreditation process with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
