If you’re passionate about using the power of engineering to help solve challenges on an international scale, this is the course for you.
The comprehensive curriculum of our Engineering for International Development MSc covers urban resilience, wastewater solutions, human settlements, renewable energy, and sustainable, climate-resilient, and low-carbon infrastructure systems that support NetZero goals. You will also study the delivery processes within resource-limited contexts, alongside the ethical, social, and environmental dimensions of international development practice.
You will develop a deep understanding of the challenges surrounding global development, exploring how engineering integrates with environmental sustainability, biodiversity protection, and circular economy principles. A global perspective will help you understand the context of your work as an engineer, enabling you to design projects that address some of the world’s most pressing climate, resource, sustainability, and development challenges across diverse communities and settings. The course places a strong emphasis on socially inclusive and ethical engineering practices, including community engagement, participatory design, and social innovation approaches tailored to local needs and cultural contexts.
You will also strengthen transferable skills in stakeholder engagement, project management, contextual intelligence, problem solving, critical thinking, and leadership and collaborative working in multidisciplinary teams across sectors. Through applied learning and research, you will develop the ability to influence policy, practice, and innovation while contributing to real-world sustainable development impact globally.
