The Politics PhD programme enables students to carry out a piece of in-depth research in the area of their interests. As part of the offer making process applicants will be required to undertake an interview assessment.  This may be in the form of a face-to-face interview, Skype or telephone. The Department hosts the British Election Study , the largest quantitative data source in politics in Britain; the Manchester Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, an interdisciplinary forum for the promotion research and teaching in Europe; and Feminist Political Economy Network , a UK-based academic network that aims to facilitate research on and discussion of the gendered dimensions of the global political economy. The Department comprises of five research clusters, including Manchester Centre for Political Theory (MANCEPT); Comparative public policy and institutions (CCPI); Global Political Economy; Democracy and elections; and Critical Global Politics.
