BA Film Studies and Japanese aims to develop students’ understanding and awareness of the rich possibilities of this creative medium and encourages them to approach the study of film from a range of historical and theoretical perspectives. The Japanese language will be taught throughout the course. Students will develop various linguistic skills including speaking and writing accurately, understanding and analysing audio, video and written materials, using different registers, speaking to a group with confidence, and translating with appropriate sensitivity. Teaching will be conducted through lectures, seminars, tutorials and practical group projects.
