The BSc Pharmacology and Physiology with Industrial/Professional Experience course will enable students to gain experience of the workplace on a year-long placement during their degree. The pharmacology component of the course looks at drug actions on living systems - where they act, what they do, how they are metabolised, and how they exert toxic effects. Physiology is the study of function in living systems. At Manchester, the concentration is on the function of humans and other mammals. Students may go on a placement with one of the `trusted partner' organisations in the UK or abroad in Year 3.  Alternatively, students can choose to arrange their own placement (subject to approval from the School of Biological Sciences).
