Biology is a two-year master's program offered in Aalborg. The program builds on the foundational knowledge students have from their bachelor's degree and provides them with an in-depth understanding of a range of advanced techniques used in the biological field in relation to environmental and nature management. During the first semesters of the program, students will work with population biology, ecosystem modeling, nature management, global climate change, molecular biological techniques, and bioinformatics.
The teaching is research-based, and project work is closely linked to research environments. This gives students the opportunity to delve deeply into the subject and develop their ability to apply and explain scientific methods and results. Biology is the study of living nature, and the program takes students to various biotopes where they will have the opportunity to conduct practical fieldwork in both aquatic environments and on land. As students of Biology, they also have the opportunity to write projects in collaboration with Aalborg Zoo.
Whether students choose to study Biology as a single or dual-subject program, they will learn about a range of central topics:

Admission Requirements
The following bachelor's programs are pre-assessed as qualifying for this program:
- Biology, University of Southern Denmark
- Biology, University of Copenhagen
- Biology, Aarhus University
- Environmental Biology, Roskilde University
Admission to the two-subject program in Biology also requires a two-subject bachelor's degree with the same subject combination.
Although the education qualifies students, please be aware that the program has limited admission and applications will therefore be prioritized according to the selection criteria below.
If students' education is not listed under qualifying programs, they can still apply for admission. When applying, an individual academic assessment of their qualifications will be made in relation to the following specific requirements for subjects or subject areas at the bachelor's level, measured in ECTS:
- At least 10 ECTS in mathematics and statistics
- At least 10 ECTS in chemistry, including organic chemistry and physical chemistry
- At least 100 ECTS in biology, including biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, zoology, botany, physiology, and ecology
- At least 20 ECTS in experimental work in biology, including both field and laboratory work, through practical courses, projects, or other activities
Please note that it is not possible to supplement subjects to meet the admission requirements.
