With a foundation in subjects, methods, theories and disciplines pertaining to architecture and engineering, the Master of Science in Engineering (Architecture) ensures an interdisciplinary competence profile.

The following bachelor degrees qualify for admission to the Master of Science in Engineering (Architecture) (civilingeniør, cand.polyt. i arkitektur):

  • Byggeteknologi (bachelor) DTU
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Engineering (Architecture and Design) from AAU (bachelors with a legal claim for admission to a master’s programme in direct continuation of their bachelor studies)
  • Bygningsdesign (bachelor) DTU
  • Bygningsdesign (diplomingeniør) DTU
  • Bygningsteknik (diplomingeniør) SDU

Successful completion of a relevant and recognised university Bachelor’s degree equivalent to a Danish Bachelor’s degree in level and length (180 ECTS).

Aalborg University offers interdisciplinary studies where bachelor courses (basic study programmes) are followed by masters and Ph.D. courses (subsequent specialisation). The university offers 10 different undergraduate programmes in English across five faculties:

  • The Faculty of Humanities
  • The Technical Faculty of IT and Design
  • The Faculty of Social Sciences
  • The Faculty of Engineering and Science
  • The Faculty of Medicine


Each of the five faculties has its own schools with full time bachelor education spanning over three years and designed to prepare students for master and Ph.D. education at a high academic and international level. Since the Ph.D. programmes are focussed on training researchers, students are researching independently and being actively involved in Aalborg’s research community.
