The
Department of Horticulture was established in 1982 as one of the oldest
departments of the Faculty of Agriculture at Namık Kemal University in
Tekirdağ. Our department opened its undergraduate program in 1982, its
graduate program in 1986 and its doctorate program in 1990. Our department,
which started education with 30 students, 3 faculty members, 2 faculty
members in the year it was founded, serves 133 students with a total of 9
faculty members, 1 assistant research assistant and 2 research assistants as
of the 2024-2025 academic year.
In the Faculty of Agriculture Block B; 4 laboratories, 1 meeting room, 1 vaccine and infusion unit, 1 air conditioning unit, 1 soilless agriculture unit, 1 graduate student study room are available for the use of faculty members and students.
In Köseilyas Education, Research and Application Farm, 10 acres of wired training orchard, 10 acres of open field orchard, 5 acres of vineyard, 2 acres of vegetable parcel and 3 acres of greenhouse area are used by our department.
Our department conducts education and research in Vegetable, Fruit and Viticulture and Breeding Sciences.

Admission Requirements
1) In
order to apply to the doctoral program, candidates must have a bachelor's or
master's degree, a diploma from a faculty of medicine, dentistry or
veterinary medicine of at least ten semesters excluding preparatory classes,
a bachelor's or master's degree from a faculty of pharmacy and science, or a
specialist authority gained in a laboratory branch according to the
principles regulated by the Ministry of Health, and must have a minimum of 55
standard points in the score type of the program applied for from ALES or be
successful in internationally accepted exams whose equivalence is accepted by
the Senate instead of the ALES result and whose success base points are
determined, and those who apply with a bachelor's degree must have a minimum
of 70 standard points in the score type of the program applied for from ALES.
(2) In accepting students to doctoral programs, the success grade is
calculated by adding 20% of the weighted undergraduate grade point average
of applicants with a bachelor's degree, 20% of the weighted graduate grade
point average of applicants with a master's degree, 50% of the standard score
obtained from ALES, and 30% of the score obtained as a result of the
interview conducted by the jury established by the institute's board of
directors for each department. In order for a candidate to be considered
successful, their success grade must be at least 70. Students are accepted
according to the announced quota by ranking from the highest score to the
lowest. However, in order to accept students to the doctoral program, a
minimum score of 55 from ÜDS or an equivalent score from an exam accepted by
the Interuniversity Board is required, and for foreign students, a minimum
score of 55 from ÜDS or an equivalent score from an exam accepted by the
Interuniversity Board in a language other than their mother tongue, such as
English, French or German, is required. The university senate is authorized
to increase these minimum scores according to the characteristics of the
