The Department of Industrial Engineering at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, under the Çorlu Faculty of Engineering, was established in 2010 with the mission of educating engineers who are equipped with the knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the regional industrial and service sectors. The department consists of two main divisions: Industrial Engineering and Operations Research.
Graduate education in Industrial Engineering began in the 2014–2015 academic year, followed by the commencement of undergraduate education in 2015–2016. As of the 2024–2025 academic year, the department has a dedicated academic staff of four full-time faculty members: one Professor, one Associate Professor, one Assistant Professor, and one Research Assistant. The undergraduate program currently serves 337 students (161 female and 176 male), making it one of the youngest and most dynamic departments within the Çorlu Faculty of Engineering.
The Industrial Engineering undergraduate program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to optimize and improve the performance of complex systems involving people, materials, information, equipment, and energy. The program integrates fundamental engineering sciences with courses in mathematics, statistics, operations research, production planning, quality management, work study, simulation, systems analysis, logistics, and supply chain management. Emphasis is also placed on developing students’ competencies in information technologies, digital tools, and software relevant to engineering practices.
To support education and research activities, the department is equipped with a computer laboratory consisting of 35 workstations, primarily used for optimization and simulation studies. Through senior design projects and graduation theses, students have the opportunity to engage in real-world industrial problems under the supervision of faculty members. These projects allow students to gain hands-on experience, apply their theoretical knowledge in practice, and build strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
The program aims to graduate engineers who possess strong technical problem-solving abilities, an analytical mindset, and ethical values. Students are encouraged to develop leadership skills, adapt to technological advancements, and embrace lifelong learning. The department prioritizes producing well-rounded professionals who are capable of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams and communicating efficiently in both technical and managerial settings.
With its young, enthusiastic academic staff and continuously evolving curriculum, the Department of Industrial Engineering is committed to offering a modern, industry-relevant education. Admission Requirements

Admission to the undergraduate Industrial Engineering Program at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University is carried out through the centralized placement system administered by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) within the scope of the national Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS). Students must achieve the minimum score set by ÖSYM to be placed in the program.
Students admitted through this exam do not take any additional departmental exams. The process is based on merit and complies with national higher education policies.
Horizontal and vertical transfers from other universities are possible in line with YÖK regulations and university procedures. These applications are evaluated based on academic performance, course equivalence, and available quotas.
Graduates of vocational schools may be admitted through the national Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS), subject to course equivalency and curriculum adaptation.
