Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Physics Department was established in 2006 and started education and training in the 2009-2010 academic year within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. There are 5 main branches in the Physics Department: Atomic and Molecular Physics, General Physics, Nuclear Physics, Solid State Physics, and High Energy and Plasma Physics.

7 faculty members and 2 research assistants carry out education and research activities in our department. In addition to the 4-year undergraduate program, the department also offers master's and doctoral programs. Our department started undergraduate education by accepting its first students in the 2010-2011 academic year, master's education in the 2010-2011 academic year, and doctoral education in the 2018-2019 academic year.

Admission Requirements

1) In order to apply to the doctoral program, candidates must have a bachelor's or master's degree, a diploma from a faculty of medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine of at least ten semesters excluding preparatory classes, a bachelor's or master's degree from a faculty of pharmacy and science, or a specialist authority gained in a laboratory branch according to the principles regulated by the Ministry of Health, and must have a minimum of 55 standard points in the score type of the program applied for from ALES or be successful in internationally accepted exams whose equivalence is accepted by the Senate instead of the ALES result and whose success base points are determined, and those who apply with a bachelor's degree must have a minimum of 70 standard points in the score type of the program applied for from ALES. (2) In accepting students to doctoral programs, the success grade is calculated by adding 20% ​​of the weighted undergraduate grade point average of applicants with a bachelor's degree, 20% of the weighted graduate grade point average of applicants with a master's degree, 50% of the standard score obtained from ALES, and 30% of the score obtained as a result of the interview conducted by the jury established by the institute's board of directors for each department. In order for a candidate to be considered successful, their success grade must be at least 70. Students are accepted according to the announced quota by ranking from the highest score to the lowest. However, in order to accept students to the doctoral program, a minimum score of 55 from ÜDS or an equivalent score from an exam accepted by the Interuniversity Board is required, and for foreign students, a minimum score of 55 from ÜDS or an equivalent score from an exam accepted by the Interuniversity Board in a language other than their mother tongue, such as English, French or German, is required. The university senate is authorized to increase these minimum scores according to the characteristics of the programs to be entered.
