Pedagogy of Physical Activity and Sport

The accelerated increase in health conditions related to the scarce practice of physical activity, sport and adequate use of free time generates the need to contribute to the educational system with competent and innovative professionals in the domain of methodological strategies for the development of physical and sports capacities to improve the quality of life in the community. 58.2% of the 12-year-old population does not practice any sport. This data collected by the Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), supports the growing importance of the need for professionals in this branch. The professional in this area can contribute with their knowledge, advice and direct participation in private companies and public institutions related to physical activity; those that, in response to the need to present options that promote sports, generate initiatives such as the design of sports equipment, plans, programs, personalized advice and the generation of entrepreneurial spaces (gyms, courts, sports clubs).
