This Master in Tropical and Caribbean Architecture offers the knowledge about the Caribbean. The region is part of that great strip that constitutes what we could call the "tropical world", which, in economic terms, is made up of a number of developing nations. The Caribbean or Greater Caribbean is structured, in addition to its particular geographical characteristics, by the synergy of the great cultural diversity that inhabits it, thus constituting a fundamentally syncretic population. We understand that there are four important considerations to point out in order to visualize your own and unique understanding in relation to the Caribbean:

  • People and their needs.
  • The climate and its problems.
  • Materials and means of construction.
  • The aesthetics of the region.
Therefore, it is important to train human resources of high academic and scientific level who have an integral vision of the aspects, conditions and characteristics of architecture in the Dominican Republic and in the Caribbean region.
