The UNPHU School of Dentistry is responsible for training highly qualified professionals in individual oral health, and requires 13 periods, equivalent to 4 years and 6 months, to complete this training.
Why study Dentistry at UNPHU?
The UNPHU School of Dentistry has always been considered one of the best in the country in terms of practical experience when studying Dentistry. This means that students must complete teaching practice on patients for seven of the 13 academic periods included in the current curriculum. We consider ourselves a very active school, where personalized attention to students throughout the teaching and educational process prevails, through highly qualified professors with professional experience and a high academic standard for each of the dental specialties.
It is important to note that our School of Dentistry has produced prestigious dental professionals, both nationally and internationally recognized.
In addition, we have the most outstanding student mobility program, where our students undertake rotations at universities in other countries, including the School of Dentistry at the National University of Monterrey in Mexico, the National University of Colombia, the Javeriana University of Colombia, and the School of Dentistry at TUFTS University in Boston, United States.
Our educational approach includes community activities, which are carried out twice a year in mobile surgical operations for children born with oral cavity defects. Our students participate in these operations, which take place in the city of Moca, and are guided by professors from universities in Puerto Rico, Colombia, Venezuela, and Mexico (with which we have agreements), as well as by the school's teachers.
We have a revamped curriculum, and the largest academic load falls on dental-related subjects. These subjects are distributed equally among the general education subjects. From the first semester, students are offered courses directly related to the Dentistry program. Furthermore, students are exposed to clinical prevention activities from the beginning of their studies.
