Geomatics or geomatics engineering (a term composed of geo, "Earth", and matics, "computer science"), is a discipline based on the geosciences of geodesy, cartography, photogrammetry, topography and information and communication technologies (ICT), which integrates tools such as Geographic Information Systems, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and Remote Sensing, whose purpose is the management of georeferenced geographic information that includes data capture, processing, analysis, treatment, modeling, representation, storage, and dissemination of geospatial information of interest in the fields of engineering, territorial planning, environmental studies, cadastre, among other areas that require information for the solution of different situations or phenomena that impact societies.
