The MA Education (Early Childhood Studies) is a specialist route for those who are a practitioner working or intending to work in the early years sector. Students will draw on their own personal and professional experience, practice and interests to explore an area of early childhood studies that is particularly relevant to their career development. The core modules enable students to update their knowledge and skills and give students the opportunity to reflect on their professional practice whilst developing their understanding of theoretical models and current debates. There are two modules: Using the Literature to Inform Educational Research and the Dissertation.

Applicants should have a good honours degree (at least a 2.2) and must have significant experience as a practitioner in early years settings.

In exceptional cases applicants who are able to demonstrate suitable significant experience and/or further study may be considered for the programme, and may be asked to attend an informal interview to assess their suitability. A written record of the informal interview will be kept in order to provide evidence of particular recommendations.
