There is a high demand for mathematicians and statisticians across many sectors such as renewable energy, health sciences, finance and banking, space science, as well as many other science and engineering industries. This Mathematics course develops students’ knowledge and understanding of maths concepts and methods. It provides students with a strong foundation in maths and develops their capacity to apply mathematics to real-world problems, including analytical and numerical approaches to modelling and problem solving. Year 1 and 2 include group projects which aim to enable students to develop their communication skills through independent learning and teamwork. The Year 2 group project is a real industrial case-study. In Year 3, students may undertake an optional placement year. The final year will require a completion of a specialist project, which provides a unique opportunity for students to explore an area of maths that interests them in greater depth. Each student is guided throughout by their project supervisor.
