In this program students must maintain a GPA of 3.00 to take Honors courses and remain in the Honors Program. All Honors Program students will be reviewed yearly. Any Honors students falling below a 3.00 GPA at the end of any year of study will be contacted and removed from the Honors Program. They are also required to complete the requirements for the Bachelor of Science. It is designed to satisfy demand for students with a combination of technical and business training. Indeed, the major was designed through a process of consultation between business, government, and academic leaders. Related majors in Computer Science and in Management Information Systems are described in separate guides. The Information Systems major is oriented toward students interested in the design of new software systems for business and consumer needs. The study of MIS includes a study of core computer science concepts but differs from traditional computer science in that MIS concentrates on the application and management of computerized information systems in business. The undergraduate program is designed to prepare the student for an MIS career in business, consulting, or government. The graduate program is designed to prepare a person with a background and work experience in business, or a technical field such as engineering, for an MIS career path in business, consulting, or government.
