Brief: Department of Arabic Language was established with the establishment of Al- Iraqia University in 1989, and this department was nucleus of the university’s founding. Vision: It lies in the fact that it aspires to be a distinguished department locally and regionally, producing distinguished scientific competencies in the field of Arabic language and literature. Message: Seeking to contribute to the preservation of Arabic language, the language of Noble Qur’an, and caring for it… enhancing its value in hearts of its citizens, and preparing qualified national competencies in this field and this specialization… serving their country, religion, language and nation… and enabling the language to involve in daily life so that Arabic becomes a promising life tool. Goals: The goals centered on two axes: -The first axis: axis of the undergraduate studies. The objectives envisaged in this axis are many: 1- Preparing teachers who are skilled and scientifically qualified in Arabic language. 2- Students’ adaptation to modern technologies and their use in teaching Arabic language efficiently… that qualifies them for creativity and excellence… at the same time qualifies them to compete in the labor market. 3- It also contributes to community service and continuing education through the establishment of training and advisory courses and scientific meetings in this field. 4- The department also aims at this stage to direct outstanding literary talents and develop spirit of poetry and writing in various departments of the college to enrich literary movement. – As for the second axis: is axis of postgraduate studies, objectives are also many, most notably: 1- Preparing researchers with Arabic Sciences. 2- Preparing qualified teachers to teach in higher education, capable of facing the problems of Arabic Language in modern life. 3- Enriching the Arab library with research and scientific studies in this field, with all that is new, original, innovative and radical.

Admission Requirements
To apply for a PhD, the applicant must have a Bachelor's and Master's degree in addition to passing proficiency exams (Arabic language, English language, computer exam).
