The department's vision is centered on its aspiration to be a local and global academic and intellectual hub for intellectual and mental development and the understanding of Islamic heritage through dialogue, critical thinking, debate, and coexistence among religions and sects, as well as intercultural dialogue, based on the verse: "Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam" (Al Imran 3:19).
The Mission of the Department of Comparative Religion, Sects, and Intercultural Dialogue:
The department's mission is manifested in:
- Utilizing contemporary advancements to overcome intellectual obstacles and achieve coexistence among religions, sects, and civilizations, based on the verse: "There is no compulsion in religion" (Al-Baqarah 2:256), ultimately ensuring social peace. This is achieved by preparing effective personnel through the application of modern knowledge tools and establishing a knowledge and intellectual foundation that serves the humanities and sciences. This foundation contributes to building a generation of knowledge leaders who believe in promoting the concepts of coexistence and tolerance among religions and sects and who engage positively in intercultural dialogue. - Working within intellectual frameworks grounded in profound knowledge that encompasses authentic Islamic schools of thought, contemporary religious perspectives, and disciplined, renewed visions. - To instill love for Islam in students, respect for its civilizational heritage and timeless message, and to cultivate virtues, spread tolerance in societies, and combat extremism, fanaticism, and abhorrent sectarianism by building academic capacities to advance scientific progress, improve the current situation, confront sedition, and overcome adversity.
- To prepare specialists in the fields of comparative religion, sects, and civilizations, holding bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees, to support religious, educational, and social institutions, enabling them to contribute to building society, supporting it spiritually, scientifically, and culturally, and participating in its prosperity and advancement.
