About KTO Karatay University
Konya Chamber of Commerce (KTO) Karatay University was established as Konya’s first foundation university by the Konya Chamber of Commerce Education and Health Foundation, pursuant to Law No. 5913 published in the Official Gazette dated 07/07/2009 and numbered 27281.
Named after the Karatay Madrasa built by the Seljuks in 1251 and recognized as the first foundation higher education institution in Anatolia and the Konya Chamber of Commerce, one of Türkiye’s most long-established chambers of commerce, KTO Karatay University admitted its first students in the 2010–2011 academic year and graduated its first cohort in June 2013. It offers educational opportunities to more than 9,000 students across 6 faculties, 2 schools, 3 vocational schools, and 1 institute.
As a long-established representative of the education sector, KTO Karatay University continues its efforts, in line with its historical responsibility, to achieve accomplishments that will shape the future of humanity. The primary objective of KTO Karatay University is to conduct education and research activities aimed at addressing the challenges of the industrial and commercial sectors in its region and to educate highly qualified graduates. With its innovative, sustainable, scientific, academic, and community-oriented services, the fundamental goal of KTO Karatay University is to become a nationally and internationally recognized and preferred university by educating participatory and entrepreneurial individuals who are committed to ethical values; who lead scientific and technological advancements; who are environmentally conscious; who possess problem-solving skills and empathy; who have a strong sense of social responsibility; and who can integrate their human qualities with professional competencies.
Placing great importance on research activities, KTO Karatay University produces high-quality studies that take into account the economic, cultural, and social structure of society. In the University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report–2025 published by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), which assesses university performance under the headings of education and training, research and development, internationalization, sustainability, and community service and social responsibility, KTO Karatay University ranked among the top 10 foundation universities in 5 indicators, achieving significant success at both national and regional levels. Moreover, in evaluations examining universities that stand out in terms of the number of publications per faculty member in journals indexed by TR DİZİN, KTO Karatay University ranked 14th nationwide and 2nd among foundation universities, remaining above the national average while continuing its development. In assessments based on social responsibility projects carried out by universities, it ranked 19th across Türkiye and 3rd among foundation universities, demonstrating that its efforts toward social benefit have reached a broad base.
According to TÜDA data, KTO Karatay University ranked 11th nationwide and 7th among foundation universities in terms of student satisfaction with accessibility, evaluated across access policies, physical space arrangements, digital services, and student support units. In addition, KTO Karatay University ranked 12th nationwide and 7th among foundation universities in the category of university website accessibility percentage. It also placed 17th nationwide and 9th among foundation universities among universities with the highest donation amounts.
