Mechatronics Engineering is a multidisciplinary field that integrates Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Information Systems in a synergistic manner for the purpose of designing and producing useful products. The field of Mechatronics Engineering has been developed to meet current needs in areas such as robotics, automation, intelligent automotive industries, manufacturing facilities, space systems, engines and engine-related systems, satellites, and computer-based drive design. Such systems employ advanced technologies for sensing, signal conditioning, interfacing, actuation, communication, and the control of electromechanical systems. Today, there is a rapidly growing demand for mechatronics engineers in our country and region for the development, operation, and maintenance of these intelligent systems.

The Mechatronics Engineering Program at KTO Karatay University is one of the effective programs in this field in Türkiye. The academic program and curriculum have been designed in harmony with related disciplines, taking into account both academic and scientific foundations as well as industry needs. During the first two years, students take foundational engineering courses aimed at developing analytical thinking and programming skills. In the subsequent years, they take specialized courses that provide opportunities to gain knowledge and skills in teamwork, design experience, modeling, simulation, and computer-controlled electromechanical systems. Students acquire project development and technical reporting skills within a design-oriented discipline, suitable for research and production environments in industrial settings. In addition, they gain proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) tools and widely used software such as Autodesk®, SolidWorks®, MATLAB Simulink®, and National Instruments LabVIEW®.

The academic activities of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering are structured to enable students to express themselves professionally and to contribute to the common good of the country. These objectives are achieved through laboratory experiments, course projects supervised by faculty members, capstone projects, and two industrial internships completed during undergraduate education. Students may choose technical elective courses offered by an experienced academic staff in fields such as electrical, electronics, mechanical, computer, biomedical, nuclear electronics, signal processing, communications, industrial control, and defense technologies, according to their areas of interest. Through the projects they develop, students are able to participate in national and international events.

Upon graduation, our students will become highly sought-after engineers in sectors such as electromechanical systems, energy, aerospace, automotive, and defense industries, with competencies in areas including embedded and real-time data acquisition systems, household appliances, human–machine interfaces, medical devices, power electronics, intelligent systems, and wearable technologies.
