International Labor Organization (ILO) data show that every year around the world, approximately 350,000 people die due to work accidents and approximately 1,700,000 people die due to occupational diseases. In the working life where approximately 2,200,000 people die annually and approximately 600 people per day, Occupational Health and Safety emerges as one of the areas of study that should be taken into consideration not only in the world but also in Turkey. Therefore, with the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 published in the Official Gazette, professionals with occupational safety expertise certificate will provide the greatest support to employers in occupational health and safety issues. Occupational health and safety professionals are people who have received special training, have their professional qualifications assured, and are competent in the field of occupational health and safety. As in the private sector, it is obligatory to appoint an occupational safety expert in public institutions and organizations.
Occupational health and Safety; It necessitates interaction and cooperation between positive and social sciences such as engineering, chemistry, physics, medicine, psychology, law and sociology. This program is designed to train professionals who will assume the role of occupational safety experts, who are required by law to work in private sector or public institutions and organizations. Due to the obligation of businesses to employ occupational safety personnel with the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 and the low number of personnel trained in this field in our country, the Occupational Health and Safety Thesis Master's Program was opened at KTO Karatay University Graduate Education Institute.
