KNU named after J. Balasagyn realizes the following objectives in the field of education and education of personality on the direction of training of master’s degree  530600 - ”Journalism”

Training of highly qualified specialists capable of conducting innovative professional activities in mass information and communication, scientific research, and teaching. These specialists possess universal and professional competencies that support their social adaptability, mobility, and resilience in the job market. Additionally, the program promotes the development of general cultural values, civic qualities of future journalists, initiative, purposefulness in professional activities, tolerance, and an overall enhancement of cultural awareness.

A student pursuing a Master's degree in Journalism can choose the following specialization:

-Internet Journalism

Professional fields for graduates include education and science, information, and media communication.

A Master's student in the program 530600 "Journalism" studies the following professional subjects:

●        Modern Theories of Mass Communication

●        Journalism and Contemporary Geopolitical Concepts

●        Storytelling in Mass Media

●        Methodology and Methods of Media Research

The professional activity objects for graduates are mass information transmitted through various media channels, print publications, television, and radio programs. The types of professional activities include authorial work, editorial work, project analysis, and information analysis.

A Master's student in the program 530600 "Journalism" should solve the following tasks:

1.       In the field of authorial work:

-Creating media content in complex formats and genres that align with trends in the media landscape and industry.

2.       In the field of editorial work:

-Editing and abstracting materials for newspapers, magazines, news feeds, television, radio broadcasts, and internet media according to language norms, professional standards, formats, styles, and technological requirements accepted across different media types;

-Developing publication concepts, conducting literary and analytical work on materials and texts, maintaining creative contacts with authors, publishing house staff, and printing personnel;

-Planning publications, determining themes, budgeting for publications, and coordinating the content creation process.

3.       In the field of project analysis:

-Developing and adjusting media project concepts, analyzing and determining their format in various types of programming and planning according to media development strategies;

-Conducting analysis and assessment of media texts, products, and communication products, and preparing reports;

-Designing, promoting, and implementing media projects based on societal needs, audience interests, and principles of social responsibility.

4.       In the field of information analysis:

-Gathering, analyzing, and summarizing information needed to create complex media content;

-Developing analytical justification during media project development and media modeling;

-Analyzing trends in media communication systems considering social, political, and economic mechanisms, evaluating, and forecasting impacts in the media sphere with regard to ethical and legal norms.

The standard duration for completing a full-time Master's degree in 530600 "Journalism" is 2 years, while part-time study takes 2 years and 6 months.
