History

KNU named after J.Balasagyn is implementing the following directions of  Bachelor’s degree program  530400 "History":

- training of qualified specialists for the implementation of professional activity in the field of education, science, history, culture, art, media management in the study of the past of mankind, analysis of historical processes and phenomena, forecasting the actions of man, state and society, by developing students' personal qualities and the formation of professional competencies, focused on achieving results in practical activities. As well as the formation of social and personal qualities of students: purposefulness, organisation, diligence, responsibility, citizenship, communication, tolerance, increasing general culture, etc.

A student - future bachelor of history can choose one of the existing profiles:

• General History;

• History of Kyrgyzstan;

• Archaeology, ethnology, source study and historiography.

The areas of professional activity of graduates are education, science, management, culture, art, mass media, and publishing research papers. Bachelor's degree in the direction of training 530400 "History" studies such disciplines of the professional cycle:

• History of Europe and America

• Archaeology

• Methodological problems of historical research

• Methods of teaching history

The objects of professional activity of graduates are:

• historical processes and phenomena in their socio-cultural, political, economic dimensions and their reflection in historical sources;

• different types of historical texts - written, oral and virtual (including hypertext and textual elements of multimedia objects);

• oral and written communication;

• museum expositions and funds;

• archival holdings;

• learners, processes and methods of teaching, education, socialisation;

• documentation support of scientific and educational process;

• methods, tools and technologies of historical research.
Types of professional activities of graduates are:

• research;

•pedagogical;

• organisational and managerial;

• cultural and educational;

• expert-analytical.

Bachelor's degree in the direction of training 530400 "History" should be able to solve the following tasks:

1) In research and development activities:

• determination of priority directions of research in the field of national and world history, their theoretical development and implementation in practice to solve practical problems;

• analysing and evaluating the socio-economic and cultural implications of new phenomena in science, engineering and technology, professional sphere;

• collection, analysis, processing of information necessary for solving practical tasks and problems both in hospital and fieldwork conditions using modern information technologies;

• use of archival materials in research activities;

• preparation of reviews, annotations, abstracts and bibliography on the subject of research;

• written and oral presentation of the results of research work, including in a foreign language.

2) In pedagogy:

• solving educational and pedagogical problems on the basis of general and professional knowledge in related fields;

• development of educational programmes, individual educational trajectories, use of modern methods and forms of educational work;

• Collecting historical data and being able to interpret, analyse and communicate it to an audience;

• correct application of the knowledge acquired in the learning and teaching process; implementation of the education of the younger generation;

• training in free orientation and self-development skills.

3) Organisational and management activities:

• managing complex actions, processes, monitoring and documenting the processes and results of a small team or group of individuals;

• carrying out business communication and maintaining partnership relations, maintaining official and business documentation in the state and official languages, as well as in foreign languages;

• assistance to heads of departments of authorities, commercial enterprises and non-governmental organisations engaged in international activities;

• co-operation with the media, including foreign media, including work on the Internet.

4) In cultural and educational activities:

• implementation of state policy in priority areas;

• defining and solving cultural and educational tasks in various spheres of society;

• implementation of programmes and projects in museums, archival institutions and mass communication systems,

• assistance in organising congress and exhibition activities;

• preparation of information materials on events related to congress and exhibition activities.

5) In expert analytical activities :

• search, collection and analysis of information to support the activities of think tanks, public and state organisations, mass media;

• collecting information, news reports and maintaining databases on political-legal, socio- economic and cultural aspects of the development of Kyrgyzstan and foreign countries;

• preparation of information reports on certain aspects of political-legal, socio-economic and cultural development of Kyrgyzstan and foreign countries;

• working with analytical projects, carrying out expert evaluation, drafting analytical reports and reports;

• expert and advisory work, participation in the work of innovation projects, as well as the development of projects taking into account specific parameters.  

The duration of  full-time  530400 "History" Bachelor's degree program  is 4 years, part-time 5 years.
