In a rapidly changing geopolitical environment where tensions and uncertainty define global affairs, there’s a growing demand for deep expertise in defence and strategy. Employers across government, industry and international organisations are seeking professionals who can think critically, lead effectively and contribute to policy development in complex security settings.

The Defence and Strategy specialisation will equip you with advanced knowledge of defence theory and practice. You’ll explore military operations, national security planning, strategic decision-making, power projection and the management of geopolitical risk. By examining historical and contemporary debates, you’ll analyse how governments assess threats, formulate strategies and respond to emerging security challenges at national, regional and international levels. Furthermore, you’ll engage in structured exercises in wargaming and adversary modelling, sharpening your ability to evaluate strategic advantage and propose innovative, evidence-based responses to today’s most pressing defence and security challenges.
