As the global population grows, so does the need for sustainable food sources, cleaner fuels, reduced environmental impact and new ways to combat disease. Biotechnology – used for thousands of years in agriculture, food production and medicine – harnesses cellular and biomolecular processes to create solutions to these pressing challenges.

In the Master of Biotechnology, you’ll train in advanced molecular techniques with world leaders in nano-biotechnology, genomics and proteomics. You’ll gain experience using state-of-the-art instruments in two campus-based ARC research centres, major facilities dedicated to proteomics and RNA technologies, and Australia’s first genome foundry. Via a unit delivered entirely by industry professionals, you’ll gain valuable real-world insights and a robust understanding of current practices and emerging trends. And with our location in the Macquarie Park Innovation District – home to innovative biotech companies such as GlyTherix, Minomic and MicroBioGen, you’ll make connections with organisations seeking graduates with the expertise to advance Australia’s rapidly growing biotechnology sector.
