As an interdisciplinary science, photonics technology combines mechanics, electronics, chemistry, material science, automatic control, and physics. The photonics industry is a technology-intensive, high-added value, and low-pollution industry. It finds many applications in military, consumer and hi-tech areas, hence its importance has drawn global attention. As a result, the photonics industry has been identified as one of the key industries worldwide. Enormous manpower and capital have been invested in this technology over the past decade. In return, the annual global market growth of photonics products is ~20% during this period of time. In Taiwan, development of low-profile optical systems, green energy, bio-photonics, information and display optoelectronics, etc. has grown very rapidly recently. Our mission is to provide potential solutions and intellectual resources to address problems that the optoelectronics, photonics, and nanophotonics industries facing in Taiwan.

Most lectures are offered in Chinese. Applicants should have sufficient listening, speaking, reading and writing ability in Chinese. Applicants from non-English countries are required to provide English proficiency certificate. All new students are REQUIRED to have a health check-up for university enrollment.
