The department , established in 1971, is the first spatial planning department in Taiwan and a recognized institute of excellence in teaching, research, and industry-academia cooperation. Our core goal is to promote environmental quality, competitiveness, fairness, and justice to guide the sustainable development of communities, urban and rural areas, regions, and nations. The department offers BS, MSc, and PhD programs in spatial planning. We aim to cultivate students proficient in planning and design theories and practical methodologies to become ambitious, professional, creative, scientific, and with worldwide vision elite spatial planners. Therefore, our curriculum design emphasizes both theoretical and practical training. Based on the emerging planning issues and faculty members' expertise, our teaching and research fields focus on urban and regional planning, urban design and regeneration, regional economics and industrial development, urban engineering and transportation, and information technology application. Applicants should have sufficient listening, speaking, reading, and writing ability in Chinese. They are required to provide Chinese self-hand-written autobiographies, Chinese proficiency certificates (Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) certification with a minimum level 3, or relevant Chinese language certificates), and certificates of Chinese language classes for at least a year. All new students are REQUIRED to have a health check-up for university enrollment.
