Our educational objectives are to cultivate doctors who can provide holistic care for the patients. The Doctor is required to have competence in Humanities, Professionalism in Medical ethics, rich medical knowledge and the ability of solving problems by science method. He/she should possess the life-long learning attitude and thus to be a scientist as well as a citizen in the society. A variety of learning methods are used with strong emphasis on active student learning. These include small-group, problem-based learning (PBL) tutorials, lectures, laboratory sessions and demonstrations, clinical skills and bedside teaching, seminars, debates, evidence based medicine teaching, community and hospital visits. Information technology is also applied to assist students’ learning, such as on-line self assessment, moodle, i-teach, and access to course materials.

Applicants are required to be interviewed (if demanded), and will be notified by the department; the interview date will be held around every April/May (for Fall Semester application). Applicants should have Chinese skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing and are required to provide a Chinese proficiency certificate (intermediate level or above of TOCFL or New HSK). Applicants are also required to provide a self-hand-written autobiography in Chinese. Applicants are required to provide certificates of high school grades and academic performances within recent three years. All new students are REQUIRED to have a health check-up for university enrollment.

Selected courses taught entirely in English are offered in 27 departments. It has 43 undergraduate programmes, 36 independent graduate institutes and nine degree programmes.
