Admission Requirements
Students come to UNIC from around the world, blending a diverse range of academic backgrounds, experiences, interests, talents and cultural heritage.
Admission to our University is granted under different categories, depending on the student’s qualifications and educational objectives.
Our general admissions policy relies on the student’s previous academic performance, including their high school grades. The Medical School has separate admissions policies and procedures outlined on the Medical School website.
Undergraduate Admission
The minimum admission requirement is a recognized High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC). Students with a lower HSLC grade than 7.5/10 or 15/20 or equivalent, depending on the grading system of the country issuing the HSLC, are provided with extra academic guidance and monitoring during the first year of their studies. Some programmes have higher entry requirements.
English Language Proficiency
The table below provides the minimum English Language Requirements (ELR) for enrollment to an undergraduate programme of study offered in English. Students who do not possess any of the qualifications or stipulated grades listed below and hold IELTS with 4.5 and above or equivalent, are required to take an English Placement Test and will receive English Language support classes, if and as needed.
Programmes Taught in Greek
A certain number of undergraduate programmes focused solely on Cyprus and Greece are taught in Greek. Students on these programmes are not required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements.
Undergraduate Transfer Students and Credits Earned at Other Universities
Our University welcomes transfer students from other accredited colleges and universities and accepts courses obtained from current and/or previous studies that are of the same quality and equivalency as courses offered at UNIC.
Transfer credits may correspond to specific University courses or to specific categories such as Computer Electives, Humanities Electives, etc. Transfer credits will not count towards the student’s Cumulative Point Average – CPA (overall grade). Regardless of the credits transferred, students have to complete at least one half of the number of the Bachelor’s Degree ECTS (120 ECTS for a 240 -ECTS Bachelor Degree, 150 ECTS for a 300-ECTS Bachelor Degree) and at least two thirds of the number of the Master’s Degree ECTS.
Credit from National Testing Centres
Transfer credits are awarded for A-Level, selected GCSE, LCCI, and other similar qualifications.
Postgraduate Admission
The minimum requirement for admission into a Master’s degree programme is a Bachelors Degree from a recognized/accredited college or university. In addition to the minimum requirements, special admission requirements may apply for various departments. Please consult the website for an updated list of specific requirements. Further, students applying from selected countries may be required to have additional qualifications. The Admissions Department will guide all applicants throughout the admission process.
