A successful teacher is able to motivate students, manage the classroom, assess student’s prior knowledge, communicate ideas effectively, address individual student needs, develop appropriate teaching strategies and implement suitable assessment procedures. Teachers can develop these skills through understanding and applying relevant psychological and learning theories. The program aims at inviting educators see themselves as engaged learners, i.e. professionals who continuously seek to find and test better ways to help their students succeed. The central aim of this program is to enrich students’ understanding of how development (typical and atypical) and individual differences affect learning, as well as developing critical thinking in evaluating the appropriateness of teaching methods aiming at improving student learning. Another aim is to train students in the use of methodological and statistical tools in the investigation of contemporary issues of relevance to educational psychology.
