The Physiotherapy Program of the University of Nicosia offers the Doctoral Degree "Physical Therapy" (PhD in Physiotherapy), which is aimed at students who wish to specialize in research subjects of modern Physiotherapy, including Clinical Biomechanics.

General Objectives

The aim of the program is to provide doctoral candidates with the theoretical and practical strategies of experimental research in the fields of Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation and Clinical Biomechanics. Students will have the opportunity to develop the appropriate skills to independently carry out innovative research related to the field of their choice.

The program is structured in such a way as to provide doctoral candidates with in-depth academic and practical knowledge of modern research equipment in Rehabilitation and Clinical Biomechanics. The program guides students in a methodical understanding of the design, methodology and execution of research as well as its modification according to the results. By the end of the program, students will be able to convey the specialized knowledge and conclusions they have acquired through their specialized research, to fellow Physiotherapists, to other health scientists and in general to all specialists related to Rehabilitation and Clinical Biomechanics (biologists, engineers, etc.).

The Specific Objectives of the program are:
  1. To provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills for specialized clinical research
  2. To provide doctoral-level education in the rapid scientific and technological developments in the fields of Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation and Clinical Biomechanics
  3. To create a research hub through which interdisciplinary collaboration will be promoted
  4. To strengthen the Republic of Cyprus with researchers with specialized knowledge in the field of Physiotherapy and Clinical Biomechanics

The program is aimed at:
  • To graduates of the Postgraduate Program in Orthopaedic Science and Rehabilitation of the University of Nicosia
  • To graduated Physiotherapists who hold a Master's Degree (MSc) as well as to graduates of specialties related to Physiotherapy or Clinical Biomechanics who hold a Master's Degree (MSc).
