The Distance Learning Degree Program in Business Administration is a flexible, evaluated-certified study program, with the same standing as the face-to-face study programs in Business Administration. The program is aimed at graduates of secondary schools, who are interested in acquiring knowledge and skills in the field of Business Administration and is approved by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA) with recognition in Cyprus, Greece and abroad.

The Program does not require the physical presence of the student. The teaching takes the form of distance learning while the physical presence of the student is necessary only at the final written examination of each course, which is conducted in the various examination centers in Cyprus and Greece.

Within the philosophy of the University of Nicosia for the provision of comprehensive general education and specialized knowledge and skills, the program offers students the opportunity to combine their learning in a wide range of academic disciplines with areas related to business and to develop their critical thinking, communication and creativity skills. The program also aims to develop students individually and academically and to prepare them to work ethically in a changing multicultural environment. The variety and range of courses offered, as well as the culture of free discussion that characterizes the university contribute to the comprehensive education of the graduates.

The General Objectives of the program are the following:

  • Providing knowledge in a wide range of Business Administration disciplines.
  • Analysis of the role of the external environment in which organizations operate, as well as market opportunities and risks – both nationally and internationally.
  • Development of skills to design strategies and manage risks.
  • Improving the analytical and interpersonal skills required in business decision-making process.
  • Development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The program includes a number of Specific Objectives such as:

  • Encouraging the evaluation of ethical issues, with an emphasis on socially responsible corporate behavior.
  • Improving leadership and organizational skills that contribute to effective management.
  • Development of marketing skills with the ability to design and implement appropriate strategies.
  • Providing knowledge of legislation relating to the rights, relationships and conduct of individuals and businesses engaged in trade and sales.
  • Explanation of accounting standards and business financing principles.

Academic Admission

The minimum admission requirement to an undergraduate programme of study is a recognized High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or equivalent internationally recognized qualification(s). Students with a lower HSLC grade than 7.5/10 or 15/20 or equivalent depending on the grading system of the country issuing the HSLC are provided with extra academic guidance and monitoring during the first year of their studies.

English Language Proficiency

The list below provides the minimum English Language Requirements (ELR) for enrollment to the programme of study. Students who do not possess any of the qualifications or stipulated grades listed below and hold IELTS with 4.5 and above, are required to take UNIC’s NEPTON English Placement Test (with no charge) and will receive English Language support classes, if and as needed, from UNIC’s International Gateway Centre (IGC).
