The aim of the Joint Master's Program is to prepare students with the appropriate academic knowledge and professional skills to work in multiple fields of application of  Intercultural Education and Mediation (such as [intercultural] educational units, organizations, migration policy bodies, non-governmental organizations, state and local [self]administration) with the ultimate goal of social cohesion and inclusion. The program promotes respect for pluralism and diversity, intercultural awareness and competence, intercultural communication, dialogue and mediation, collaborative intercultural learning, as well as differentiated teaching/planning skills through:



  • (a) attending relevant courses and
  • (b) study of relevant bibliography (Greek and foreign language).


In addition, the program aims to cultivate research skills through:


  • attending special quantitative/qualitative research courses,
  • undertaking small-scale research within the context of the various courses and/or preparing a Master's Thesis, and
  • the students' Practical Exercise.


To obtain the Master's Degree, it is mandatory to successfully complete 120 ECTS, i.e. attend 9 semester courses (90 ECTS) or 6 semester courses (60 ECTS) and a Master's Thesis (30 ECTS), as well as successfully complete the Internship (30 ECTS).


Career Prospects


The content and the Practical Exercise of the Joint Postgraduate Program contribute to the formation of scientists-researchers (action) and mediators, with a reflective disposition and ability to produce new intercultural knowledge, shaping an inclusive society.


Graduates of the program may have employment prospects:


  • As teachers in the formal education system, they receive specialized knowledge in intercultural education, differentiated teaching and school mediation. Specifically, graduates receive the points provided by ASEP in the permanent and substitute appointment tables, as well as for executive assessments, etc.
  • As Intercultural Mediators in organizations dealing with integration issues of vulnerable or vulnerable/special social groups (immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, groups with different cultural perceptions and practices, single-parent families, etc.). The Master of Social Work cultivates skills that are directly related to the professional profile of the Intercultural Mediator of EOPPEP.
  • As knowledge professionals and education executives in the broader scope of Intercultural Education and Mediation at the local and international level.


Access to Further Studies


Graduates of the program can be admitted to Third Cycle studies (Doctoral Studies).

Admission Requirements

Admission Criteria


The minimum requirement for admission to the postgraduate study program is a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university.


Additionally, prospective students must meet the following admission criteria:


  1. Admission Application: All fields must be completed, including field 9 with the details of the two recommendations.
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  3. Certified Copy of Degree from recognized higher education institutions. The title must include the date of graduation and final degree grade.
  4. Certified Copy of Transcript of Records: The Transcript of Records must be the final one, issued after the issuance of the degree and including the date of swearing-in and the final degree grade.
  5. Recognition by DOATAP, for prospective students from Greece, in case the undergraduate degree was not awarded by Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) or Higher Technological Educational Institutions (HTEIs) of Greece.
  6. Copy of Political Identity.
  7. Statement of Personal Goals and Research Interests (approximately 2 pages): A letter stating the candidate's individual abilities and potential, his/her CV, as well as his/her expectations from the program and the way in which it will help him/her in his/her personal development and career development.
  8. Previous teaching experience and other evidence such as articles, monographs, awards, academic distinctions, etc. are an advantage.
