Terms of Access

Access to the first year of the Master is open to students holding a bachelor's degree in physics. However, to enable high-level training, preference will be given to students with a degree in radiation physics or equivalent.

The selection is based mainly on study of the files

.

Training aims

The presence of approved medical physicists (radiation physicists) is mandatory in radiotherapy departments and desirable in nuclear medicine and medical imaging departments (Decree 05-117 of April 11, 2005 relating to protective measures against ionizing radiation) .

Medical physics training is designed to produce a scientist who has a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles of physics relating to the use of radiation in medicine, who has the ability to think independently, and the qualifications to perform innovative scientific research. The training received in physics allows the medical physicist to analyze the important devices of a process and to identify the potential causes and to evaluate the importance of all the possible sources of error.

The Master of Medical Physics is a 2-year academic training. It includes theoretical training over three semesters and including a strong component of radiation physics, dosimetry, metrology of ionizing radiation and clinical dosimetry, as well as dissertation work.

The great challenge is therefore to train researchers allowing Algeria to be in tune with this great scientific and technological development.

.

Targeted business profiles and skills

The Master in Medical Physics is the natural continuation of License training such as: Radiation Physics or Physics with all options. It allows students to acquire the basic theoretical tools in different fields :

- Nuclear physics

- Physics of the interactions of radiation with matter

- Atomic and laser physics

- Radiation protection and dosimetry

- Medical physics

- Nuclear techniques

- Medical and nuclear imaging

This knowledge will be deepened by the preparation of a doctoral thesis

- Regional and national employability potential of graduates

This academic-type master leads to the preparation of a doctoral thesis in a research laboratory.

The multidisciplinary nature of this training ensures a job:

- Teacher-researcher (university)

- Full-time researcher (public or private research centers)

- Radiotherapy Center and Hospitals.

- From secondary school teacher to high schools
