1- Training Objectives:
The objectives assigned to this training include both research and training. Thus,
these objectives can be summarized as follows:
.Promotion of scientific research at the establishment level;
• Improving the visibility of the establishment and promoting its ranking
internationally;
• Provide an educational and scientific space to supervise students wishing to enter
the world of scientific research;
• Exploration, identification and enhancement of local materials such as wood and
cork;
• Master the techniques and technologies of mechanical characterization of
materials;
• Encourage the orientation towards the exploitation of ecological materials;
• Elaboration, characterization, modeling and sustainable development of bio
composite/naturally reinforced materials used in environmental conditions under
different stresses;
• Respond to the needs of industrial complexes established at the local level by
proposing solutions to the problems they face

2- Organization of training and evaluation methods
Access to doctoral training is open by competitive examination to candidates holding a
Master's degree or a foreign diploma recognized as equivalent. The written examinations
of the competition relate to the content of the approved teaching programs of the first
and second cycle.
The duration of doctoral training is set at three consecutive years. The head of the
establishment may exceptionally grant a derogation of one or two years on the basis of
a reasoned opinion by the thesis director and the doctoral training committee and on
the proposal of the scientific authorities.
The doctoral thesis consists of the realization of an original research work by the
doctoral student. The defense of the thesis is the result of conclusive doctoral
training, publication of scientific work and writing of the thesis.
During the first year of registration, the candidate is required to validate the
complement of his training by courses to strengthen knowledge in the specialty, as well
as courses in research methodology, information and communication techniques, foreign
languages and an introduction to didactics and pedagogy
The defense of the thesis takes place after favorable opinion of the majority of the
members of the jury. It is organized before a jury made up of 4 or 6 lecturers of
masterly rank or permanent researchers authorized and in a position of activity,
including one to two members outside the establishment of registration. At the end of

the defense and after deliberation by the jury, the title of "Doctor" is awarded to the
doctoral student.

3- Opportunities
Holders of the Doctor of Mechanical Engineering degree can perform the following functions:
• Lecturer in higher education
• Permanent researcher in thematic research centers such as: Mechanics of Materials,
Composite Materials, Mechanical Engineering, Energies and Renewable Energies,
Metallurgy, etc.
• Manager at the research laboratory level
• Senior executive in certain state or economic enterprises.
