Training aims

This training is a multidisciplinary and practical training aimed at training managers in the materials industry, their transformation and their use.

The lessons contained in this training do not stop only on the aspect of the characterization or the modeling of the behavior of the different types of materials, which are certainly very important, but also integrate basic scientific and technological lessons which go as far as in the development and implementation of materials. At the end of the training the student should be able to:

Understand the dialectical relationship between the structure, properties and shaping method of a material;

  • Understand the criteria and principles for classifying families of materials;

  • Understand the particularity of the structure of each family of materials and its impact on their properties;

  • Assimilate the performances and limits of each class of materials;

  • Know the fields and conditions of use of the materials;

  • Be able to define, from a given function of an element in a system, the material with the functional characteristics essential to ensure optimum operation;

  • Distinguish the materials or set of materials capable of performing given functions;

  • Know the different means of measuring the characteristics of a material;

  • Learn the processes of elaboration of the different materials.

Evaluation method:

Students are assessed by:

  1. Continuous assessment: questions during the semester, presentations, report.

  2. Control: an exam at the end of the semester.

Opportunities

The professional opportunities offered by this training are numerous and concern different sectors, we can cite by way of example.:

Very large companies:

Steel industry, cement industry, brickworks, glass industry, Sonatrach, PMA (agricultural machinery production company), military industry, ENICAB (electric cable production company), industrial of packaging, ENPC (National company for the transformation of plastic materials and its subsidiaries).

. Small and medium enterprises

The field of construction materials, plastics processing, the mechanical industry, the packaging industry, the materials processing industry, the ceramics industry, the composites industry.

The professional opportunities offered by this training are numerous and concern all sectors of activity:

The professions of technical education in high schools; Vocational training professions (vocational training centres); The profession of technician in the construction materials, materials processing, packaging, ceramics, glass, wood, brickyards, cement factories, etc. ; Executive functions in public administration such as trade services; The activities of design offices ranging from design to dimensioning (sectors: building, mechanical engineering, ergonomics, transport, etc.).
