Training objectives
Pharmaceutical chemistry is a highly interdisciplinary science that
brings together organic chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology,
molecular biology and statistics. This program prepares you to
design, manufacture and develop biologically active molecules to
produce new drugs to improve people's health, working in
collaboration with biochemists and pharmacologists.
This discipline is intended for students from the L2 chemistry
level after classification based on the averages of the first four
semesters of study. The "Pharmaceutical Chemistry" course offers
skills in:
Design, isolation and preparation of molecules for therapeutic
purposes.
Synthesis, identification and interpretation of chemical
structures.
Extraction and semi-synthesis of natural products;
Molecular modeling and study of the modes of action of drugs;
Analysis and quality control of drugs
Valuation method:
- Knowledge check at the end of the semester;
- Continuous evaluation and assessment notes of the student's
personal work;
- Remedial control at the end of the year;
- Lectures and seminars
Opportunities:
The employment sectors for pharmaceutical chemists are numerous:
• Pharmaceutical industries;
• Biotechnology industries;
• Agrifoods industries;
• Industries manufacturing organic products;
• Cosmetic industries;
• Governments and universities
