The selection will be made on the basis of the study of the student's file, taking particular account of the candidate's results and the adequacy of the program studied during the course with the objectives of the proposed training.

The diplomas and give access to the proposed training are :

- Bachelor in Theoretical Physics

- Bachelor in Fundamental Physics

- Any equivalent degree

Training aims

After a basic training at the level of the license, the student has a minimum background in fundamental physics to begin a training in Master of theoretical physics. This training aims to:

- T o deepen even more the acquired elements:

1- quantum mechanics

2- special relativity

3- field theory (Maxwell)

4- statistical physics

- E xpand these acquisitions by combining:

1- quantum mechanics and special relativity

2- quantum mechanics and statistical physics

3- quantum mechanics and field theory

4- principle of relativity and principle of mass equivalence

4- group theory and “quantum mechanics, relativity and particle physics”

5- geometry and relativity, restricted and general

- T o specialize the concepts of physics acquired above allowing him a progressive initiation to scientific research. This process of deepening fundamental, technical and mathematical knowledge essentially concerns the fields of knowledge of:

1- gravitation and cosmology

2- gauge theories

3- quantum information

4- The functional integral

Targeted business profiles and skills

Graduates of this Master will be able to continue their training through doctoral training in theoretical physics (Gravitation, Cosmology, Astrophysics, Particle Physics, Quantum Physics). They can also integrate the different structures of education and research and development (Fundamental, modeling and design, etc) The targeted sectors are:

- Physics research laboratories

- Nuclear technologies

- Space technologies

- Geophysical sciences

- Nanostructure technologies

Regional and national employability potential of graduates

This Master aims for a very high level training in theoretical physics, supported by a range of courses allowing a gradual deepening and specialization of knowledge. This master will allow students to subsequently undertake doctoral training on both experimental and theoretical physics subjects. The future winners of this training will be the component of laboratories and research centers at regional and national level.

In addition, the scientific potential accumulated during the training in this master will allow the laureates to be very effective in the educational and socio-economic sectors .

Gateways to other specialties

This Master, by the richness of its program, establishes in fact gateways to other specialties such as:

• Nuclear sciences

• Atomic and molecular physics

• Nanotechnology

• Medical physics

• Space sciences and remote sensing

• Geophysics

Indicateurs de suivi de la formation

During semesters 1 and 2 of M1 and semester 1 of M2, student assessment will be done continuously through personal work, homework for the fundamental units, as well as by a written exam at the end of each semester for each unit. of teaching. Semester 2 of the M2 will be evaluated on the basis of a dissertation which will be presented to a jury at the end of the semester.

The terms of passage and orientation will be set by a competent commission at the level of the Faculty of Science.
