Training objectives

This doctoral training is a continuation and a natural progression of the training offered in the Bachelor's degree in fundamental physics and in the Master's degree in theoretical physics for several years. Its objective is to provide high-level training and progressive specialization of knowledge to train researchers in the field of theoretical physics. In the first year, the doctoral student undergoes additional training which will allow him to deepen his knowledge and his scientific culture and to acquire the skills necessary for higher education and scientific research, in particular during the preparation of his thesis. This training includes specialty reinforcement courses, related to the proposed research themes, research methodology courses, didactics courses, courses on information and communication technologies (ICT) and courses in reinforcement of English language skills, as well as seminars and other activities led by the doctoral training committee. In parallel with this training, the doctoral student approaches from the first year a very specific research subject, proposed by a lecturer-researcher of masterly rank, and which must be completed in a period of between 3 to 5 years. The research topics proposed by the members of the management team are very varied, and belong to the following axes: quantum and mathematical physics, particle physics, theories beyond the standard model, cosmology. Doctoral students are automatically integrated into training research projects (PRFU) approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and on which this doctoral training is based .

Evaluation method

Writing a thesis with defense in front of a jury. The evaluation is done according to a grid developed for this purpose. It allows, in particular, to evaluate the thesis document, the additional training as well as the scientific production of the doctoral student.

Opportunities

  • Higher Education.
  • Laboratories and research centers. p { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; direction: ltr; line-height: 115%; text-align: left; orphans: 2; widows: 2; background: transparent }
