The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (BSHS) is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a health-related career. Programs of study either prepare students to enter a graduate program in a specific healthcare field, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, or physician assistant science, or prepare students to enter a health-related field or to develop skills and knowledge that will prepare them to work in healthcare generally. The curriculum emphasizes the development of self-directed and engaged learning skills needed for independent and life-long learning. It also promotes the importance of culture and ethical considerations relevant to all aspects of healthcare practice. Students who major in Health Sciences and continue on to complete a graduate degree in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Science, and Podiatry will have many employment options as these fields are targeted as being health care professions with high growth potential. Important employment opportunities exist in community-based agencies, the school systems, long-term care, public health agencies, and in research. Applicants must have Cumulative secondary school GPA equivalent to a 2.3 on the US grading scale for most programs. Other English language Requirements: TOEFL paper-based exam: 525; Successful completion of CSU's IELP (Intensive English Language Program) Advanced Level, with a grade of 80% or better and passing COMPASS ESL scores. Completion of English language studies (Level 112) from any of the ELS Language Centers. Achieve a score of C (Pass) or better on the Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE).
