At the end of the training process of the program, the postgraduate is a Physician:
  • Specialist in Palliative Care with a solid comprehensive bio-psycho-social training, which meets the needs of terminally ill chronic-degenerative and oncological patients with adequate criteria.
  • It recognizes the most frequent tumors, their spread and staging, identifies patients who do not respond to curative treatments and is an indication to maintain only palliative treatment, in addition to different treatments for the relief of symptoms such as radiotherapy, surgery or palliative chemotherapy.
  • Defines Total Care: That is, it considers the patient as an integrated personality (physical, emotional, intellectual, social, financial and spiritual dimension).
  • Supports the family; recognizes the shortcomings of the family nucleus.
  • It supports other specializations, both oncological and non-oncological, in the management of patients that require it.
  • Trained for clinical research and performs both his special research work and future clinical research work.
  • With high performance, he solves problems and provides emotional support; knows how to deliver bad news and works for active acceptance of the dying process.
  • Integrated to the multidisciplinary health team, as well as with the norms of the National Health System and with leadership conditions, it administers a palliative care service.
