Computing solutions require operating under very restrictive conditions: low power consumption, reduced size, unlimited connectivity, continuous service. It is these restrictions that mean that the design of these solutions requires multidisciplinary methods in which the development of the hardware and the software that will operate on them must be highly integrated to meet the required specifications. These engineering methods have phases in which the functionalities that must be implemented in both hardware and software are analyzed, creating new technological development methodologies.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, engineering, science and technology professions will be among the most sought after in the immediate future. On the other hand, at the national level, a study on the Main Indicators of Science and Technology Activities, carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), reflects the need for higher graduates in the fields of Research and Development (R+ D), Scientific and technological education and training, Scientific and Technological Services, and Management and administration of science and technology.
