By way of synthesis, the basic and general characteristics of the training pursued in the degree of Environmental Sciences at URJC are summarized below: The general profile of the degree in Environmental Sciences should be oriented towards the training of professionals with a multidisciplinary and global vision of environmental problems, focused from different sectors of knowledge. The graduate in Environmental Sciences will be able, from this broad perspective, to coordinate and complete the work of specialists in different areas. The teachings leading to obtaining the degree in Environmental Sciences must provide adequate training in the scientific, technical, social, economic and legal aspects of the environment. This is so because a good environmental professional must be able to deal with environmental problems rigorously and in an interdisciplinary way, according to the complexity of their field of work, taking into account the rest of the social and economic problems of our society. This degree will train professionals with a specific orientation, taking into account all the aforementioned aspects, towards the conservation and management of the environment and natural resources, territorial planning, management and environmental quality in companies and administrations, environmental quality in relation to health as well as communication and environmental education, from the perspective of sustainability. These teachings will provide professionals with the knowledge, techniques and practical tools necessary to achieve all the proposed objectives and to allow them to maintain an open and self-taught attitude in the face of new environmental problems and realities, new legislation and technologies, as well as new socio-environmental concerns and perceptions. On the other hand, aware of belonging to the European Higher Education Area, the internationalization of training processes and economic and industrial activities, as well as the global nature of a large part of environmental problems, the Rey Juan Carlos University has as a priority objective that graduates in Environmental Sciences are able to act and function in a professional and qualified way in the international arena, actively promoting the international mobility of their students.
