The basic training of the doctor will comprise, in total, six years of study, 360 ECTS credits, of theoretical and practical teaching given at a University or under the control of a University, which will guarantee that the interested party has acquired the knowledge and skills necessary for the exercise of his profession.
There is no restriction other than that established by law (PAU). In this degree there are no established conditions or special access tests.
The professional development of the doctor can be very varied and includes healthcare, management, teaching and/or research work. The vast majority of graduates undertake a medical specialization that in Spain is framed in a training program called MIR (Resident Internal Medicine) and depending on the specialty has a variable duration between 4 and 5 years. The incorporation to this period of specialization is carried out through a national exam that, depending on the score obtained, allows the choice of the specialty. Medical specialists may be integrated into the national health system in hospitals, in specialty and primary care centers or in private centers. PostgraduateTo study at postgraduate level, you must have either a degree obtained from a Spanish university or an equivalent qualification. Applicants from within the European Higher Education Area must present the following documents:

  • Passport or equivalent identity document
  • Official academic certificate
  • University degree

Applicants from outside of the European Higher Education Area must also provide a certificate proving their previous studies qualify them for postgraduate study in their own country. This should be provided by the university you originally studied at.
