The mission of the PhD in Education - EFHP Specialization is to cultivate research-based educators and practitioners in the field. Students' academic experiences will provide them preparation in EFHP and related fields of Kinesiology to be critical thinkers and apply evidence-based (research-based) practice principles to preserve and enhance human movement in all settings and populations. Our mission is also aligned with the Division of Health and Human Performance mission to promote optimal health and enhancing the quality of life through physical activity and the College of Education and Human Development, and the SRHT mission to provide rewarding learning experiences, conducting and disseminating exemplary scholarship, and preparing professionals committed to service. Program Structure The program requires a minimum of 85 credits of study beyond the baccalaureate degree or a minimum of 55 credits beyond the master's degree. However, an individual's program typically requires 10 more credits depending on the person's goals, program requirements, and previous preparation. Students have five years to complete all course work and the portfolio reviews. Five additional years are allowed to complete the dissertation. Most students complete the entire program in five or six years.
