The Master of Arts in communication examines the powerful role played by communication practices in contemporary society. Students receive a strong foundation in communication theory and also learn to design, execute, and interpret rigorous communication research. Our M.A. students are then challenged in their specialized coursework to examine the critical role communication plays in everyday life and to apply this knowledge to improve the effectiveness of communication campaigns, strategies, and interventions. The specialization in strategic communication/public relations requires a minimum of two courses from the list below. A course taken as a part of the general program cannot be duplicated in credits, but it can count as a course required for the specialization. Additional credits may be met through electives.
